Calling all culture vultures and history buffs! Come and explore two of Europe’s great historic cities with this new twin centre break. Prague, ‘City of a Hundred Spires’ and Dresden, ‘Florence on the Elbe’ – what an awesome combination! Prague is a living museum with famous sights including the Charles Bridge and the beautiful Old Town. Dramatic Dresden on the Elbe is a magnificent city full of art and culture and it remains a dramatic symbol of human resilience. NB a good amount of walking is required and may be less suitable for those with mobility difficulties
ITINERARY
DAY 1 Cross the Channel from Dover to France and continue to your overnight stop in Germany. BB
DAY 2 Across the heart of Germany and into the Czech Republic and Prague for your 2-night stay. DBB
DAY 3 – Prague – City of a Hundred Spires A day to explore the city with a local English speaking guide including the historic landmark sights (mostly on foot). A ‘combi ticket’ entrance to Prague Castle is included which allows access to St George’s Basilica, Old Palace and Golden Lane. Time at leisure to discover the Charles Bridge and Wencelas Square
DAY 4 Head north back into Germany to glorious Dresden. Meet your local guide to discover the secrets of this revitalised city, which was so badly damaged during WW2. The restoration is phenomenal, and Dresden is once again a magnificent ‘jewel’, full of rococo and baroque architecture. Check into your hotel for 2-night stay DBB
DAY 5 – Dresden – Florence on the Elbe –
A full day at leisure in Dresden. The domed Frauenkirche – Dresden’s most beloved symbol – literally rose from the ashes and was rebuilt from a pile of rubble between 1994 and 2005. The Zwinger Palace and the Semper Opera House are also ‘must-visit’ sights
DAY 6 Head west back through Germany to your final overnight. Time permitting, stop at the Möhne Dam, site of the Dambusters’ attack in 1943. BB
DAY 7 After breakfast, travel back through France for the return to England
