FAVOURIITE
Every autumn the alpine valleys chime with the clang of cowbells. The traditional 'Almabtrieb' (literally 'driving down the mountain') marks the closing of the high alpine pastures. Experience this time-honoured tradition in Reith im Alpbachtal as herds of cows, beautifully decorated in lavish floral head dresses, form a spectacular procession with a carnival atmosphere. Combine this with the very essence of all things Alpine Austrian – crystal clear lakes, snowy mountain peaks, chocolate box villages, Alpine trains, funiculars and cable car – for a panoramic tour of Tyrolean highlights
