Tour the WW1 battlefields with a specialist war tour guide for an insight into the events where so much turmoil and sacrifice occurred. Stay in the heart of Ypres/Ieper, a few minutes’ walk from the Menin Gate, and explore key WW1 sites including Tyne Cot Cemetery, Lochnagar Crater and the Thiepval Memorial. NB: Not suitable for those with limited mobility due to the amount of walking involved
ITINERARY
DAY 1 To Dover for ferry to France and onto Lissenjenhoek Cemetery and onto Ypres/Ieper for your 3 night stay. First night dinner in local restaurant & 2 nights BB. The Menin Gate may still be under restoration, but the Last Post ceremony goes ahead each evening at 20.00
DAY 2 Tour of the Salient including Essex Farm (where John McCrae wrote ‘In Flanders Field’), the Welsh Dragon Memorial and the Steenbeek memorial dedicated to the ‘Last Fighting Tommy’, Harry Patch. Onto Tyne Cot, the largest CWGC in the world, and visits to Polygon Wood, Black Watch Corner and Hill 60
DAY 3 Head South to Picardy and the Somme with visits to Maricourt, the Devonshire Trench at Mametz and the German cemetery at Fricourt. Continue to La Boisselle, site of the worst day in British military history, and
stop at Lochnagar Crater and
the colossal Thiepval memorial
DAY 4 Back to France via Talbot
House, a place of rest for soldiers
during WW1, and homewards
Park and the Walt Disney Studios® Park to meet all your favourite Disney© heroes and heroines
ITINERARY
DAY 1 To Dover and France and onto Marne La Vallée for your 3-night stay BB DAY 2 – 3 At leisure with a 2 Day Hopper Pass included. Enjoy time at your leisure between the Disney Parks and the facilities at the hotel. A free shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes between the hotel and the Disney Parks from 08.00 to midnight (10 min transfer). Hotel leisure facilities include the unique aquatic recreation area with heated indoor pool, water slides and stranded pirate ship – a great experience for children and the young at heart! Long opening hours. Video games & XD cinema both are at extra charge
DAY 4 Back to the port and homewards
