Located on the Eastern shores of Lake Garda, the lovely town of Bardolino is one of the prettiest and most atmospheric on the lake, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. It is one of the best-known resorts, due mainly to the wine made from the grapes grown in the surrounding hillsides. The resort is one of the more popular destinations on the southern end of the lake, located just south of Garda Town. Parc Hotel Gritti, Bardolino

This outstanding 4* hotel is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is just a short walk to the old centre of Bardolino along the lakeside promenade.

All 260 en suite bedrooms have lift access, satellite TV and hairdryer as well as complimentary tea/coffee facilities.

There is an indoor pool as well as a large outdoor swimming pool with a sun terrace, sun beds and pool bar. Guests can enjoy the live piano bar on some evenings. A welcome drink and porterage are included. Afternoon tea is served every day between 4pm-5pm.

NB There is a supplement for balcony rooms. Not all balcony rooms are pool facing

Itinerary

DAY 1 - After joining your holiday coach, you will travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. Continue into France and your overnight hotel stop in Troyes. BB

DAY 2 - Relax and watch the rural French scenery unfold on the way to Switzerland for a one night stay - clear air, mountains and lakes awaits. Overnight in Engelberg with dinner included tonight. DBB

DAY 3 - After a leisurely breakfast continue through Alpine Switzerland and into Italy en-route to Bardolino, your holiday base for the next five nights. Your holiday price includes porterage on arrival plus afternoon tea and cakes daily (16.00 - 17.00). DBB

DAY 4 – 7 – At leisure in Bardolino with three included excursions. Bardolino is one of the top destinations selected by visitors to Lake Garda and town is just a short stroll from the hotel along the lakeside promenade. It lies at the foot of rolling hills covered with orchards, olive groves and the vineyards for which the town is so famous. Spend a day at leisure enjoying its medieval, traffic-free centre. Its main square is full of inviting pavement cafés where you can simply relax and enjoy a glass of the locally produced wine. The cosmopolitan promenade stretches for 3km along the lakefront to neighbouring Garda. Should you wish, you could take a ferry to nearby Lazise, a hidden gem of a beautiful historic walled town, and maybe enjoy lunch at a local taverna

INCLUDED EXCURSIONS
Venice, City of Canals
An early start today for the drive to Venice, the ancient and famous city of canals to view St. Mark's Square, the Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and much, much more. From the coach park there, you will make your way into Venice by private boat. To add to a truly memorable day, enjoy an included guided walking tour of Venice and an optional gondola ride may also be available (full details and price available locally). (NB: Due to the historic nature of the city, this excursion is not suitable for wheelchair and mobility vehicle users)

Malcesine and Scenic Lake Drive
A scenic drive today as you head north along the lakeside to Malcesine, nestled in the shadow of Monte Baldo. Malcesine is one of the most attractive towns on the whole lake and has, for decades, drawn writers and artists with its picture perfect setting and historic castle. For a spectacular view over Lake Garda there is nothing to beat a ride on the Malcesine cableway (costs not included) which rises to 1600 metres in just ten minutes to the top of Monte Baldo

Romeo & Juliet's Verona
Journey to the magnificent old city of Verona, famous for Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'. Bordered on three sides by the River Adige, the streets of Verona's ancient centre follow the layout of the Roman city. Upon arrival you may either explore the city on your own or join the optional guided city tour by coach and then on foot. Full details and price available locally.

OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS
Lake Cruise to Sirmione
The most relaxing way to enjoy Lake Garda is by boat to Sirmione, one of Garda's most popular resorts. Sirmione juts out several miles into the southern waters of the lake on a narrow peninsula of cypress and olive groves. (Details available locally) 

DAY 8 - It’s farewell to Lake Garda today as you head northwards towards France and your final overnight hotel. BB

DAY 9 - After breakfast, continue to Calais for the return crossing to England.
