INCLUDED EXCURSIONS
Powderham Castle
Powderham, on the banks of the River Exe, is a magnificent fortified manor and home to the Earl and Countess of Devon. It was built in 1391 by Sir Philip Courtenay and was created as a family home, a landmark and a space for community life to come together. It has been much adapted with Tudor, Georgian and Victorian enhancements over the last six centuries and you will discover its colourful, rich past, its stories and secrets on a fascinating guided tour through the state rooms.  The staircase, hall, music room and master bedroom of the house were used as locations for the 1993 film 'The Remains of the Day'. Afterwards take a stroll through the grounds and gardens from the formality of the Rose Terrace to the wilderness of the American Garden. There is a café on site for snacks and light refreshments. Head back to the hotel with the remainder of the afternoon at leisure to explore and enjoy lovely Dawlish and Dawlish Warren, both close to the hotel
