With a whole day at your disposal in the lovely Victorian spa town of Harrogate, you may wish to visit the grade II listed Royal Pump Room Museum (admission applies - approx. £4 pp in 2024), which explores Harrogate’s spa history and houses the strongest sulphur well in Europe! Browse the various independent and well-known shops, sip a cuppa in the famous Bettys Café Tea Rooms, or even pamper yourself with a visit to the luxurious Turkish Baths (prices vary). There are also several pretty gardens here worthy of a wander, including Valley Gardens and The Stray, known for its colourful cherry trees in Spring.
The Yorkshire Pudding Experience
Indulge oneevening with a glass of Prosecco and main course dinner followed by 5 luscious puddings to savour with tea & coffee. The selection of puddings include one made from a (traditional) Yorkshire Pudding and other options may include Sticky Toffee Pudding, Chocolate Pudding, Treacle Pudding, Spotted Dick to name but a few. Magnificent York is a beautiful compact riverside city famous for its Roman, Viking and Medieval heritage dating back 2000 years. Within the ancient walls and twisting atmospheric streets you will find an array of sights to discover such as the iconic York Minster, the renowned Jorvik Viking Centre, the landmark Shambles, National Railway Museum and a host of museums, shops, charming tea rooms and traditional pubs. Still encircled by its mighty walls, York was one of the great cities of the medieval world and is a treasure house for today's visitors.
Continuing the sweet theme of the tour, there is an included visit to York's Chocolate Story to discover the story of chocolate from its exotic origins in the rainforests of Central America to the cobbled streets of Yorkshire. See how it is made and how to taste it like an expert and take a trip down memory lane to reminisce with vintage favourites from times gone by.
Yorkshire Dales National Park (5-day tour only)
Designated a national park in 1954 (further extended in 2013), the Yorkshire Dales is known for its outstanding scenery, unspoilt countryside, diverse wildlife habitats and a rich cultural heritage. The Yorkshire Dales has many moods - it can be wild and windswept or quietly tranquil with valleys full of meadows, drystone walls and barns. Take a scenic drive of discovery via Pateley Bridge, a lovely little Dales town on the River Nidd, and then onto pretty Grassington, the friendly and picturesque village in Upper Wharfedale. Head back to Harrogate via Skipton, the charming Dales market town with its famous 900 year old castle, romantic ruined priory and historic cobbled High Street.
Return Day - After breakfast, travel home with a courtesy stop en-route, arriving back at your local joining points early to mid-evening.
